Dr. Pepper to Axl Rose: Your Move

So the now mythical GnR album, ‘Chinese Democracy,’ has all the more reason to actually see the light of day: Dr. Pepper, yes the soft drink, will be in the hands of all Americans if the album drops in 2008.  Dr. Pepper’s director of marketing, Jaxie Alt, issued the following statement regarding the soft drink maker’s promise to put a can of Dr. Pepper in the hand of every American if the album comes out this year (a statement that could not be any more marketing if it tried):

“It took a little patience to perfect Dr. Pepper’s special mix of 23 ingredients, which our fans have come to know and love. So we completely understand and empathize with Axl’s quest for perfection – for something more than the average album.  We know once it’s released, people will refer to it as ‘Dr. Pepper for the ears’ because it will be such a refreshing blend of rich, bold sounds – an instant classic.”

Dr. Pepper has set up a blog to keep track of this offer.

‘Chinese Democracy’ has been in the works for over 13 years, has seen a plethora of line-up changes and is speculated to have cost millions of dollars in production and studio time. The songs “I.R.S.,” “Better,” “Catcher in the Rye” and “There Was A Time (TWAT)” leaked to radio stations last year and Rose himself claimed throughout 2007 that the album would be released. So far, no album.

Fucking bizarre.
