Velvet Revolver and Weiland Part Ways

VRIt’s official: Velvet Revolver is looking for a new singer.  In what will come as a surprise to absolutely no one who has been paying even remote attention to the band the past few months, an announcement from Slash came yesterday via statement claiming that, “[t]his band is all about its fans and its music and Scott Weiland isn’t 100% committed to either.”

Meanwhile, Scott Weiland has been creating buzz about his reunion with his former (and in my opinion, better) band, Stone Temple Pilots.  It was announced that the band will be further extending its reunion tour.

I’m more than ok with this. While Velvet Revolver had some good tunes, the albums always sounded like watered-down version of STP or GnR.  The prospect of future STP albums is very promising.  And now that most of the original GnR line-up is looking for a singer again, there’s that small glimmer of hope that Axl will stop being a dillhole and just reunite with the classic group and get on with things.
