WiiWare Goes Live

WiiWare is open for business, offering small-budget games to the console. The service follows suit with services like Xbox Live Arcade, and the Playstation Network.

Console owners will be able to download games like, ‘Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King,’ ‘Defend Your Castle,’ ‘Pop,’ ‘VIP Casino: Blackjack,’ and ‘LostWinds.’ WiiWare may see some success on the Wii, as its demo is much more casual then that of the Xbox 360 and Playstation Network.

The big need in this small-budget games market across the board is more independent content. Most customers have grown tired of rehashes, remakes, and reimaginging’s (i.e. Doom on Xbox 360, or on Wii’s Virtual Console, Mario, etc.). Though, if Duke Nukem 3d ever came to Xbox Live Arcade, I’d be the first to download it.
