George Clooney to to ‘Stare at Goats’

George ClooneyGeorge Clooney, coming off this box-office disappointment that was his helmed/starring feature ‘Leatherheads,’ has signed on to play the lead in ‘Men Who Stare at Goats.’

The adaptation, to be directed by his Smoke House partner Grant Heslov, is based on British journalist Jon Ronson’s book about the U.S. Army’s First Batallion. A unit that was to use paranormal powers. Believe it or not, the book is a true story. The U.S. Army apparently had strange forays into extra-sensory perception and telepathy, one of those things being an effort to kill barnyard animals with nothing more than thought.

A bizarre, but humorous plotline to say the least. George Clooney’s sarcastic, dry, witty style would be a perfect fit for a character who thinks he can kill with his stare. Should be an interesting film, no word on a start date, but the script has been around for quite sometime.

I’ll be over here trying to kill squirrels by telepathy while the film looks for financing.
