‘Dark Knight’ Dominates – Step Bros Shows Competition

Step BrothersIt wasn’t enough to have a stellar opening for Batman and ‘The Dark Knight.’ They sought to break even more records. In its sophomore session, ‘Dark Knight’ brought in and estimated $75.6 million dollars, making it the fastest film to break the $300 million dollar mark.

Despite the huge competition from ‘Dark Knight,’ new release ‘Step Brothers,’ opened to $30 million, and ‘Mama Mia!’ dropping just 36% in its second week to a cume of $17.9 million.

The disappointment of the weekend was the poorly received ‘X-Files: I Want to Believe,’ opening in fourth place, with $10.2 million. I’m surprised it even got that, given that I don’t think I even saw one ad for it.

The Charts:

1. The Dark Knight – $75.6M
2. Step Brothers – $30M
3. Mamma Mia! – $17.9M
4. The X Files: I Want to Believe – $10.2M
5. Journey to the Center of the Earth $9.41M
6. Hancock – $8.2M
7. WALL-E – $6.35M
8. Hellboy II: The Golden Army – $4.93M
9. Space Chimps – $4.38M
10. Wanted – $2.73
