Actor Fred Crane, best known as one of the Tarleton twins and a suitor of Scarlett O’Hara in ‘Gone with the Wind,’ has died.

Crane was not yet an actor when he accompanied his cousin to the audition.  The other twin was played by ‘Superman’ actor George Reeves.

Crane also had the first line in the classic movie.  As the film opens, Crans says, ‘What do we care if we were expelled from college, Scarlett? The war is going to start any day now, so we’d have left college anyhow?’

He also appeared in on television in the 60s.  He also hosted a classical radio show in LA for 40 years.
