Missing Beatles Track Coming to ‘Light?’

‘Carnival of Light,’ a track recorded by the Beatles January 1967, might be released soon.  In an interview, Paul McCartney has said that he has the master tape in-hand, and thinks that now might be the time to offer this track to the public.

‘Light,’ is one of the few Beatles tracks that has eluded bootleggers.  The song is said to run around 13:58.  Beatles expert Mark Lewisohn, one of the few people to have heard the track describes it as:

(A) “Distorted, hypnotic drum and organ sounds, a distorted lead guitar, the sound of a church organ, various effects (water gargling was one) and, perhaps most intimidating of all, John Lennon and McCartney screaming dementedly and bawling aloud random phrases like ‘Are you alright?’ and ‘Barcelona!”

Beatles fans were disappointed when the track was considered, but eventually dropped from the ‘Anthology’ CDs, supposedly at the request of Ringo Starr and George Harrison. Personally, I cannot wait.  Hopefully we’ll get to hear this very soon.  -Sam
