SAG To Vote on Strike

The Screen Actor’s Guild has decided to ask its members to vote on whether to strike.  They’ve been working without a contract since July 1st.

The big sticking point, much like the writer’s strike last year, concerns web-based content and who and why people get paid.  SAG says it will take roughly three weeks to conduct the vote, with 75% needed to authorize a walk-out.  This means, by the time the campaigning for awards is well under way, the actors could be picketing outside.

Coming so hotly on the heels of the WGA strike, which crippled both TV and film production, and a different economy than one year ago, this is going to be a very interesting vote.
