At least it ain’t that “Harvey” remake. Various internet sites are reporting that Steven Spielberg is eagerly pursuing the rights to the popular video game “Halo.” Spielberg was reportedly really impressed by Stuart Beattie’s script and now he wants to direct. Spielberg and Beattie, (along with Dreamworks,) are pushing Microsoft to allow them a chance to get rolling on the movie.
Peter Jackson and Neil Blomkamp tried three years ago to make Halo the movie a reality. They ended up being unable to clear up the rights and instead made the upcoming “District 9.” Will, “you’re talking to the guy who made ‘Jaws,'” impress Microsoft enough to let Spielberg loose?
