Harry Potter from day one has been a cash machine. So with the last movie, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, its no surprise that the studio is clearly looking to squeeze every last drop. This has been an honest week for me, and this next statement will go along with that theme. I’ve never read a Harry Potter book, and I’ve only seen the first film. WB clearly doesn’t need my money on this one.
The film is going to be split into two parts, much like Tarantino’s Kill Bill films. The blame is being placed on the length and depth of the final J.K. Rowling authored book (I mean, did you see how thick that book was?). The sixth film, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, debuts this November. The final two part film will be directed by David Yates (Order of the Phoenix, and Half Blood Prince), and written by Steve Kloves.
The Harry Potter series has passed James Bond as the most profitable film franchise in History, raking in almost 4.5 billion, I don’t think that includes Halloween costumes.
