Apparently, members of the band Smashing Pumpkins are suing Virgin Records for “illegally using their name in promotional deals that hurt the bands credibility with fans.” In a breach of contract suit, they cited 20 years of hard work threatened by Virgin’s use in a Pepsi/Amazon.com promotion.
Are they serious? Is anyone going to really call a band thats not together anymore a sell out? Personally, their artistic credibility is still fine by me, but, if they need some extra cash, go for it, I ain’t one to stop the legal system.
*Edit: Apparently, two of the four are still in the band. See Justin, this is why I need to stick to the video game articles.
Uh, Vatche, they’re together again. Well, two of the four anyways. Corgan and Chamberlain. Which was kind of the make up of Corgan’s last project. But that doesn’t mean this isn’t the Smashing Pumpkins!
Yeah it does.
