Apparently, members of the band Smashing Pumpkins are suing Virgin Records for “illegally using their name in promotional deals that hurt the bands credibility with fans.” In a breach of contract suit, they cited 20 years of hard work threatened by Virgin’s use in a Pepsi/Amazon.com promotion.
Are they serious?
Is anyone going to really call a band thats not together anymore a sell out? Personally, their artistic credibility is still fine by me, but, if they need some extra cash, go for it, I ain’t one to stop the legal system.
*Edit: Apparently, two of the four are still in the band. See Justin, this is why I need to stick to the video game articles.
