The Oscar nominations will be announced on January 22nd next year, instead of the usual January 20th. Why would they do that, you may be asking. Well, someone at the Academy was looking at the calendar and noticed that the Presidential inauguration is also scheduled for January 20th. Figuring that a press conference was easier to move than the swearing-in of the next Commander-in-Chief, the Academy waffled and moved their event.
This hasn’t been an issue in the past, because it was only four years ago that the Academy moved up both their nomination announcements and the actual ceremony.
For some reason, this headline made me chuckle.
