Natural Causes, the feature film written, directed and produced by filmmakers Alex Cannon, Michael Lerman and Paul Cannon will showcase this April at the 2008 Independent Film Festival of Boston in the Narrative Features Competition.
“Returning to Boston and having the opportunity to screen our first feature film here after graduating from Boston University a few short years ago could not be more exciting,” said Cannon. “All three of us have such close ties to this area and being able to come back and show our film is tremendous.”
Natural Causes was written in one month and shot in 10 days in New York City in August of 2007. Paying homage to the “greatest hits” of relationships in your early 20’s, Natural Causes explores the ups and downs of life and love. The film profiles David after the wake of a brief but intense relationship with Shaina, and his struggle to find the same connection with Cara, a new flame and Shaina’s former best friend.
Director Alex Cannon has worked professionally on a variety of films and was joined on Natural Causes by his brother and post production editor at New Line Cinema, Paul Cannon, and friend Michael Lerman, programmer for the Woodstock and Philadelphia Film Festivals and frequent contributor to indieWIRE. Director of photography Asif Siddiky and A.D. Michael Tully (Cocaine Angels) worked tirelessly with the talented cast which also includes actors Jerzy Gwiazdowski, Leah Goldstein, Shonda Leigh Robbins, Peter Davenport Swan II, and Katherine MacCluggage.
