Say what you will, Nintendo = profits. The recent release of ‘Super Smash Bros. Brawl” for the Wii console has pushed the Video Game industry 57%, or, $1.8 million for the month of March.
‘Smash Bros.’ sold to 31% of the consoles install base. At 2.7 million copies sold, it’s the biggest first month since Halo 3, which sold 3.3 million in its first month.
Other notables for the month include ‘Rainbow Six Vegas 2,’ which sold around a million copies, and the poorly received ‘Army of Two,’ which sold 831,000.
Don’t think the handhelds were ignored either, ‘God of War: Chains of Olympus’ (who currently has my attention), and ‘Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII’ sold around 300,000 units.
But I guarantee, gaming revenue is only going to go up, especially with a release like GTA IV just days away. Say what you will, Rockstar knows how to get their games off the shelf. Film studios have already predicted a decline in revenue following the games release. I guess they heard my intent to take a month off just to play this game.
