In an extremely exciting announcement, Microsoft Xbox 360 owners and Netflix subscribers have something to cheer about. For months, the internet has been abuzz with rumors of a partnership between the two groups to bring Netflix “Watch It Now” to the successful gaming console. Well, its official.
Coming this fall, a software upgrade to the Xbox 360 will give Xbox Live Gold members who have Netflix accounts access to over 10,000 titles to “Watch Instantly.”
Netflix has partnerships to set top box makers that also carry the service, Roku, and LG Electronics. The Roku Netflix Player at $100 dollars sold out with its first shipment earlier this year.
In a word, this is awesome. As a Mac user, the only way I was able to watch anything instantly was switching over to my PC partition in Boot Camp. To borrow a slogan, the best, just got better. Now, if only they’d make it work on my Mac too, then I couldn’t be happier.
