It wasn’t enough to have a stellar opening for Batman and ‘The Dark Knight.’ They sought to break even more records. In its sophomore session, ‘Dark Knight’ brought in and estimated $75.6 million dollars, making it the fastest film to break the $300 million dollar mark.
Despite the huge competition from ‘Dark Knight,’ new release ‘Step Brothers,’ opened to $30 million, and ‘Mama Mia!’ dropping just 36% in its second week to a cume of $17.9 million.
The disappointment of the weekend was the poorly received ‘X-Files: I Want to Believe,’ opening in fourth place, with $10.2 million. I’m surprised it even got that, given that I don’t think I even saw one ad for it.
