When things go wrong, Mathieu Kassovitz goes running. The French director, also known for his acting role in ‘Amelie,’ has called his new film ‘Babylon A.D.’ ‘pure violence and stupidity….a bad episode of 24.’
The film is about a mercenary who takes the job of escorting a woman from Russia to America. Little does he know that the woman is hosting an organism that a cult wants to harvest to produce a genetically modified Messiah.
The move comes after negative reviews that have been coming out for the film. The film was plagued with personal issues stemming from the director. Fox and the films overseas distributors are annoyed with the directors behavior, and that rather then meeting his press obligations, he’s flown to the Caribbean.
Fox expects the pic to perform well, given that its star, Vin Diesel, is doing his part to support the film.
Personally, I always love hearing about the eccentricities involving actors and directors. Ever seen the film overnight? What do you guys think of Kassovitz’s behavior?
