Speaking in Paris, at the premiere of his new movie, “Whatever Works,” Woody Allen said that he’d love to work with the country’s first lady.
Allen was asked what real-life personality would make a good character for one of his films, he said, “if I could, Carla Bruni. Without a doubt. I’m sure she’d be marvelous. She has charisma and is used to being in front of people. I’d give her any role.”
Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, is a former model turned singer turned wife of a president. She did appear in Robert Altman’s “Pret-a-Porter,” playing herself.
Woody Allen is scheduled to shoot a movie in France in 2010. Maybe Bruni would be interested in stopping by set
Bruni-Sarkozy, a former model-turned-singer, has never appeared as an actress, though she has at least one notable film credit to her name – playing herself in 1994’s Prêt-à-Porter,” the late Robert Altman’s satirical look at the fashion industry.
While Allen, who begins filming in France in Sept 2010, has yet to ask Bruni-Sarkozy, when asked about widely-circulating rumors that he has been invited to the Elysées Palais (the official residence of the French President) this weekend for a private dinner with both Bruni-Sarkozy and husband Nicolas Sarkozy, Allen replied, “chances are good.”
