Apparently someone saw how good ‘Billy Elliot’ did on stage, so they figured, what is another film from the Universal catalog that’ll adapt well to the stage. So, now we have ‘Bring It On: The Musical’ in development.
The film, which has found itself amongst giving birth to a bunch of direct to video sequels, originally starred Kirsten Dunst, Eliza Dushku, and Gabrielle Union. Tony winners Lin-Manuel Miranda and Tom Kitt will be composing the music, Amanda Green, the lyrics, and Jeff Whitty will be behind the book.
The stage adaptation will focus on an up-and-coming cheerleader who oversteps her bounds and angers a fellow cheerleader.
The company is aiming to star touring the show in early 2011. If I know Sam, and I know him well, he’ll be giving me these tickets for my birthday.
