In 1953, writer Elmore Leonard published a short story in Dime Western Magazine. The story was made into a movie in 1957, starring Glenn Ford. In 2007, ‘Walk the Line’ director James Mangold tackled the story again.

Mangold to Direct ‘Archive’
James Mangold has signed on to direct a new time-travel thriller for Universal Pictures. The film, called “The Archive,” is from playwright David Auburn (‘Proof’). Auburn adapted ‘Proof’ in 2001, and also wrote ‘The Lake House.’ Mangold’s last few films were ‘3:10 to Yuma,’ ‘Walk the Line,’ and ‘Cop Land.’
