Best Buy, in an effort to ease the transition for HD DVD owners to Blu-Ray, are offering a $50 gift card to all customers who purchased one of the players that lost the high-def battle.
‘We hope these gift cards will reassure our customers that we will help them make a smooth transition into the right technology for their needs,’ said Best Buy’s president and chief operating officer. If you are a member of their Reward Zone, Best Buy will send you the card without you having to do anything else. If you aren’t a member, gather your credit card records and receipts and call 888-Best-Buy. The cards should be in the mail by May 1.
This is the first olive branch offered to HD DVD fans, stung by the industry-wide support of Blu-Ray technology. Hopefully this’ll help spur sales and bring down the cost on both players and equipment.
