Tom Hanks is heading back to space for Universal’s film version of a popular 1960s toy.
Major Matt Mason’s story was that he was an astronaut who worked on the moon and lived in a space station. The toy was a huge hit during the space race in the 1960s, leading up to the moon landing. Mattel retired the toy in the early 1970s.
The script is being written by Graham Yost, who wrote Hanks’ “Apollo 13.” Will it be a comedy? Will it be a thriller? We’ll have to wait and see.
