“Rum Diary” Set Picture Released

The first picture from Johnny Depp’s new movie, based on Hunter S. Thompson’s lone published novel, “The Rum Diary,” has been released.

The movie stars Depp, Aaron Eckhart, Amber Heard and Richard Jenkins.  Bruce Robinson is directing.  “The Rum Diary,” tells the story of journalist Paul Kemp, who resorts to alcohol and sex to pass the time while working in Puerto Rico.  Tough work, but someone’s got to do it.

Eckhart and Jenkins Join “Rum Diary”

The new film of Hunter S. Thompson’s first book might be adding a few new faces to the cast.

Aaron Eckhart is in talks to join the project, while Oscar-nominated actor Richard Jenkins has already signed on.  Jenkins joins previously signed actors Amber Heard and Johnny Depp, who played Raoul Duke, another one of Thompson’s alter-egos in “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.”

Bruce Robinson, best known for writing and directing “Withnail and I,” has written the screenplay and is directing.  Shooting is scheduled to begin March 30th in Puerto Rico.

Aaron Eckhart Speaks Up On Harvery Dent

While out doing promotions for the much anticipated ‘Towelhead,’ actor Aaron Eckhart put to bed (at least for now) any chance of him appearing in the next Batman film.

Apparently, Nolan told Eckhart “No way…he’s toast.” He told web-blog CHUD that Heath Ledger was supposed to come back, but there was never a plan for Harvey Dent to return.

I’ve said it many times here on lonelyreviewer, I think Heath Ledger was an amazing actor, and for all his performances, his role as the Joker will be what he will be known for. It’s a damn shame, but I’m definitely curious what Nolan cooks up next.
