The classic TV series began production yesterday in New York City, and will begin running weekly in January on PBS stations across the country.
Produced by the Sesame Workshop, the show originally ran from 1971-1977, with old episodes continuing to be rerun until 1985. THe show targets 6-9 year olds and aims to improve their reading habits.
The original starred Morgan Freeman and Rita Moreno, the new sereis will co-star child actors Ricky Smith, Priscilla Diaz, Jenni Barber, and Josh Segarra.
