It is no longer just okay to throw characters onto the screen with poor dialogue and ludicrous scenarios. The bar has been raised every summer. And the bar is now sky high. Now comic book movies must face the dizzying heights achieved by Christopher Nolan and ‘The Dark Knight.’ [Read more…]

Close-Up: Christopher Nolan

christophernolan.jpgChristopher Nolan is arguably one of the most interesting and talented directors to emerge in the past ten years. His films have received both commercial and critical praise, and his latest, ‘The Dark Knight,’ has been receiving so much praise, and is poised to be the biggest hit of the summer.

Nolan, a graduate of Haileybury College, grew up in the Chicago area, making films with his Dad’s Super 8 Camera. After studying English literature at University College London, he filmed several shorts for the college’s film society. He made his first feature in 1996, titled ‘Following’ [Read more…]

Moon is up for ‘Terminator’

Moon is up for ‘Terminator’

Moon BloodgoodWith the casting of Christian Bale revitalizing hope in the Terminator franchise, a new casting announcement hits us early in the week.

Moon Bloodgood who takes the award for most interesting name I’ve heard this week, is in final negotiations to star as the female lead in the fourth Terminator film. Her character will be a member of the resistance.

The former Laker Girl was last seen in the short lived time travel series, Journeyman.

Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins stars Christian Bale, Sam Worthington, and Anton Yelchin.

If you’ve forgotten, the film will begin lensing May 5 with McG at the helm, with a planned Summer 2009 release.

Bale Talks Batman

Check out Entertainment Weekly’s talk with ‘The Dark Knight’ star Christian Bale at ShoWest. In the interview he discusses being Batman, the franchise, Ledger and even sounds jazzed for a 3rd go as the Caped Crusader. The bat-suit must be more comfortable now.

Terminator 3 was a complete and utter disappointment.
Granted I’ve really only seen it once, and there have been times where things are better on the second viewing, but nothing about this film inspires me to view itagain.

That being said, on paper, there are a lot of possibilities that
the franchise could be rebooted by putting Christian Bale in
the role of John Connor in Terminator Salvation. However, with McG in the director’s seat, the geek in me is slightly nervous. Can you honestly trust someone with three letters in their name? But seriously, Charlie’s Angels, eh, maybe he can do it, but I would have loved to see someone much darker tackle this.

The story is under wraps, but it is part of a new trilogy, and follows John Connor leading a group of survivors, attempting to stop Skynet, who has destroyed much of the human race. The film is set to begin shooting in May for a Memorial Day Weekend 2009 release.
