Untitled Woody Allen Film Casting Details

Untitled Woody Allen Film Casting Details

Variety.com is reporting some news on Woody Allen’s next film that starts shooting this summer.

Marion Cotillard and Rachel McAdams are in final negotiations to star in Allen’s next project that will lense in Paris. The rest of the cast includes Owen Wilson, as well as a possible cameo by Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, France’s first lady.

The film is apparently half period have contemporary film that was originally going to be shot in 2006, but abandoned due to cost.

Allen’s next film ‘You Will Meet a Tall, Dark Stranger,’ which stars Anthony Hopkins, Josh Brolin, Naomi Watts, and Antonio Banderas releases later this year, and will possibly play at Cannes. That film, along with this upcoming untitled film, and’ Vicky, Cristina Barcelona,’ are all part of a financing deal with Spain-based Gravier Productions.

Fellow Filmmakers Call For Polanski Release

A group of filmmakers are calling for the release of Roman Polanski.  Woody Allen, Martin Scorsese and David Lynch are among the directors who signed a petition asking for the release of director Roman Polanski.  Polanski was arrested this past weekend in Switzerland in connection with the 1977 rape charge that led to his fleeing the US.  Those signing the petition were also incensed that Polanski was arrested on his way to attend the Zurich Film Festival.

In other Polanski news, his most recent movie, “The Ghost,” starring Pierce Brosnan and Ewan McGregor  has been put on hold.  The movie, based on the Robert Harris novel about an investigative reporter looking into the past of the British PM, was in post production with just the sound mix and scoring remaining to be done.  However, nothing will happen with the movie until Polanski’s legal situation is cleared up.

So, for the time being, the only thing we’ll see from this movie is a short, 15 second trailer.  Check it out below.

Review: Whatever Works

Review: Whatever Works

Whatever WorksWoody Allen’s latest, ‘Whatever Works’ is a fairly entertaining film suffering from the same flaw as most of Allen’s comedy’s from the last few years, it just doesn’t hold a candle to his past work. Not that it matters, if its by Woody Allen, I’m going to go see it, and chances are, I’m probably going to like it.

Trailer For “Whatever Works” Released

When the casting of Larry David in the new Woody Allen movie was announced, fans, myself and several friends included, lost their GD minds.  I’ve heard mixed reviews, with some praising the movie, “Whatever Works,” while some seemed to be not completely overwhelmed by the pairing at the Tribecca Film Festival, where it played opening night.

Because it is a Woody Allen movie, I will be there opening weekend.  For those of you who can’t decide whether or not to go, here’s the preview.  Check it out.

New Allen Film to Open Tribeca

I won’t deny that Woody Allen has found his muse in Europe, but I also won’t deny that I’m happy to see him return to New York City. Not only is he returning to New York City, he’s returning with Larry David. ‘Whatever Works,’ Allen’s new comedy is the opening film in the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival. ‘Whatever’ also stars Evan Rachel Wood, and Patricia Clarkson.

The Tribeca Film Festival starts April 22nd and runs through May 3.

Watts & Pinto Join Allen Cast

Fresh off an exciting night at the Oscars, “Slumdog” actress Freida Pinto has joined the cast of Woody Allen’s latest movie.  Also joining the cast is actress Naomi Watts.

Because it’s a Woody Allen movie, there are few other details.  Here’s what is known: the movie stars Anthony Hopkins and Josh Brolin.  It is shooting in London this summer.  That’s about it.

Allen’s latest movie, “Whatever Works,” starring Larry David, opens this June
